Teknobitüderz Hot Applied Joint Sealant
Product description
It is a hot applied crack repair, joint filling and insulation material containing polymer and modified asphalt. It has high cold flexibility and reversibility. It is ready to use. Allows heavy traffic conditions shortly after application. It is suitable for cracks, channels, joints and concrete-asphalt joints in asphalt fields.
Usage areas
• It is used on all kinds of asphalt surfaces, crack repair, joint filling, covering of cable channels, minor floor repairs.
• It is used in airports, runway-aprons and military areas.
• In all kinds of infrastructures without solvent contact, due to its high elasticity and ability to prevent the formation of fungus and mold,
• In joints between concrete and asphalt,
• In water structures such as dams and ponds exposed to water,
• Culverts and tunnels,
• Reinforced concrete retaining curtains,
• It is used on bridges and highways.
Features and Advantages
• Thanks to its high elasticity, it can be used easily between concrete and joints that can stretch.
• Thanks to its high recycling, there is no change in product form in places under heavy load.
• It does not leave the adhered area after it is applied between the joints.
• It has high temperature stability.
• Adheres to cemented and different surfaces.
• It is economical.
• When it reaches 190 °C, it spreads by itself (Self-leveling), it can be applied by pouring with a trowel or with a joint machine.
Application Instructions
Surface Quality: Surfaces should be clean, smooth, solid and dry, weak parts should be removed from the surface. Do not apply on damp surfaces.
Surface Preparation: Joints should be thoroughly cleaned with a wire brush, spiral or sandblasting prior to application, and dust should be cleared by blowing air into the joint space.
In order to provide the filling depth to be determined according to the joint width, a heat resistant material should preferably be placed in the joint that does not adhere to the filling material. Linen or PP rope is suitable for this purpose. The diameter of the ropes should be 5-10% more than the joint width, the rope should be placed by compressing it into the joint. Dried sand can be used where there is no danger of frost and joint mobility is low. In these cases it is helpful to place a paper tape over the base material to prevent the sealant from sticking.
The melted material should be poured hot into the joint or crack. For large-scale applications, it is recommended to use pumped systems equipped with a heated steel hose. In order to ensure a good adhesion, it is recommended to heat the surfaces with an LPG burner or an electric blower heater, especially in cold weather, and to apply TEKNOBITUDERZ to the hot joint or crack.
Application Notes / Limitations
• Heating must be done with oil jacketed mixer and heat controlled equipment.
• The material poured into the melting pot should be heated homogeneously.
• The mixture is heated up to 180 °C and these temperatures are maintained during the application.
• Mixing should be done at low speed and contact of hot material with air should be minimal.
• The oil temperature in the liner should not exceed 200 °C.
• Higher oil temperatures may damage the product due to local overheating.
• The melted product should be poured hot into the joint or crack.
• In order to achieve a good adhesion, it is recommended to heat with a burner flame, especially in cold weather.
• If the ground slope is more than 2%, it is recommended to place the barrier bars perpendicular to the joint at regular intervals to prevent leakage.
• After the application, it should be protected against adverse weather conditions such as direct sunlight, strong wind, high air temperature (over +35°C), rain and frost.
• Equipment should be cleaned with TEKNOTINER immediately after the application, before it hardens.
• Not recommended for joints narrower than 1O mm.
• It is not used on dirty, oily and wet surfaces. It is important to clean such joints before application to ensure good adhesion.
• Despite its high carrying resistance, studded tires, ice chains, and pointed heels may cause damage.
• During the application, the ambient temperature should not be lower than 10°C and the dew point.
• Do not add solvent etc. into TEKNOBİTÜDERZ during application. Do not enter foreign matter.
• Do not work with flammable and combustible work clothes as it is a hot application. Use mask, gloves, goggles. Follow the occupational safety rules.
